Through our vast logistics service, we can get our goods to anywhere in Bangladesh and South Asia by land, sea, or train. As much as possible, we try to keep the damage that shipping goods does to the environment to a minimum. As an example, we moved 4.8 million tonnes of goods by train and 6.8 million tonnes by ship in 2022 alone.
For our business to keep going, we need to make sure that our goods get to our customers’ sites on time. We are aware, though, that transporting our goods and services can have negative effects on people and the world, such as:
- How fossil fuels are used
- Putting out CO2
- More vehicles moving on the road
- Problem for people in the area.
Our transportation emissions are now at 2.9 KgCO2e/tonne, which is the lowest number since we began keeping track of them in 2008, when they were 4.21 KgCO2e/tonne. This is an improvement because we are better at gathering data and running our processes more efficiently.
Mayfield Bangladesh has a fleet of specialized gravity fed self unloaders that it uses to meet the needs of its customers all over the world and in Europe.
AI also rents out a variety of conventional and excavator-equipped ships to meet the needs of its customers. These ships can go directly to remote and underdeveloped ports as part of infrastructure and offshore construction projects, or they can supply customers along the coast and in the middle of the country through virtual quarries.
