Gabro Aggregates
Mayfield’s Gabbro from Dubai is an igneous rock that has crystallized at a deep level within the Earth. As a result of the rock’s cooling and hardening (and crystallization) beneath the Earth’s surface, it will be coarse-grained. Typically, high pressure is observed at depths beneath the Earth’s surface. Molten material cools at an extremely sluggish pace in this location. Large crystals are present in the igneous minerals that are generated.
Although basalt cools rapidly above the Earth’s surface from lava, gabbro has the same mineral composition as basalt (olivine and pyroxene with smaller quantities of feldspar and mica). Gabbro is coarse-grained, whereas basalt is fine-grained.
Gabbro is occasionally referred to as “black granite” due to its coarse-grained nature. However, the presence of a significant amount of iron-bearing minerals renders gabbro denser and darker in color. Gabbro can also be a pale green or gray color.
